Why you didn't get the job!

Hi so many of us are lucky and have jobs but if you are like why I haven't I got the job will maybe because these things you might have been doing these here are 10 things NOT TO DO!

1.Poor personal appearances
you don't get a second change to make a first impression. you should look the part. e.g. smart, clean and appropriate interview clothes, hair clean and neatly groomed, shoe polished, no tattoos or facial piercing on show, No Heavy make up for ladies , no overly fashionable jewellery and so on.

2. Lack of preparation
You must research on the company, what do they make/sell? who are their customers? when were they established? are they local, national, international? and so on. You should make sure you understand the role itself?
( It depends on what you are applying for such as e.g. childcare they need you to know the seven areas of learning.)

3.  Lack of enthusiasm
if you come across as an indifferent to the job or the company you're unlikely to get the job. show interest and a good level of energy.

4. Condemnation of past employers
Even if your last boss was a total idiot do not say that in an interview, you will only come across as moaning and negative and not the type of person they would want to hire. Remember they're looking for someone that will fit into the team.

5. Over emphasis on money
You may well have to ask about salary, but don't make it your first question. The interviewer wants to know that you want to do that job and work for that company, not just get a paycheque.

6. Failure to look at the interviewer
Lack of eye contact can be viewed as disinterest, uncertainty, fear of suspicious, none of which are good at the interview! Maintain a good eye contact, looking away from time to time so as not to stare at them.

7. Late for a interview
No excuse for this one! The interviewer will assume you're a bad time keeper, not the kind of person they would want to hire. Do a practice run the day before to ensure you know where you are going.

8. Ask no questions about the job
This will be covered in a later session, but you must ask some relevant questions at the end, e.g. 'How long will the training period last?
( Ask them questions about the job.)
like  (will you give training? where will you see me in 5 years time?)

9. Lack of confidence
Its impossible to have a totally nerve - free interview, its important , you can significantly reduce the stress by being prepared, e.g. know where you're going, prepare answers to common questions, you know about the company etc.

10. Lack of supporting evidence
If you have a certificate/letter of praise or some other type of confirmation about your abilities and experience take them with you. If you claim your improved sales at your last job tell the interviewer how/ by how much/ what impact it made. Be as specific as possible or your answer may seem woolly and make up.

Also make sure your cv is up to date and have a folder with your certificates and achievements that you may need for the interview.

Practice, Practice , Practice before you go to the interview.

Enjoy your week ahead.
